BATHROOM REMODELING IN AURORA, IL
Bathroom Remodeling in Aurora, IL
A complete bathroom renovation featuring a new metal bathtub, updated plumbing, new copper water lines, insulation and vapor protection, cement board, MAPEI waterproofing, new tile, fixtures, and a custom platform with an artificial stone top. Complete Tub Surround Renovation — Finished in 6 Days
The Challenge
Creating a Complete New Tub Area in a Limited Space
The existing bathtub and plastic wall surround had already been removed before Euro Pros began work on the project.
The bathroom required a new bathtub installation, updated plumbing, new water lines, proper insulation and vapor protection, a waterproof tile surround, and new fixtures and finishes.
The room was approximately 6 feet wide, while the new bathtub was 5 feet long. This left additional space beside the bathtub that could be turned into a functional raised platform and shelf.
The project required careful coordination of the plumbing, insulation, vapor protection, bathtub installation, cement board, waterproofing, tile, fixtures, and finishing work within a six-day schedule.
Our Solution
New Plumbing, Waterproofing, Tile & Custom Platform
Euro Pros completed the bathroom renovation using a carefully sequenced installation process.
We installed a new bathtub drain and new copper water lines for the tub faucet. New insulation was installed around the bathtub area, followed by vapor protection. The seams, connections, and fastening points were sealed with specialized red waterproofing tape.
A new metal bathtub was then installed, connected to the new drain, and securely fastened.
Because the bathtub was 5 feet long and the room was approximately 6 feet wide, we used the remaining space to create a raised platform and shelf behind the bathtub. The platform was later finished with tile and an artificial stone top.
Once the plumbing, framing, and vapor protection work was completed, the project continued with cement board installation. Cement board was installed around the bathtub and on the platform. The joints were reinforced with mesh tape and mortar, and the fastener heads were properly treated.
After the cement board preparation was complete, two coats of MAPEI liquid waterproofing membrane were applied to the walls and platform.
After the waterproofing had cured, the tile installation was completed in one working day. The following day, the tile installation system was removed, grout was applied, and the corners around the bathtub and the transition between the bathtub area and the vinyl flooring were sealed with silicone.
The final work included installation of the shower system, faucet and tub fixtures, installation of the artificial stone platform top, painting of the surrounding walls and ceiling areas, decorative finishing, and final cleanup.
