The owner of this facility refused to use cleaning products and primers in order to save budget. In this regard, we only sanded the surface of the deck to remove areas of swollen and peeling old paint. As a compromise solution, we advised the owner to use exterior paint containing a primer.
The deck was coated with this paint in two layers. We allowed enough time for the first coat to dry before applying the second.
In mild conditions (dry weather, about 70 degrees), a deck treated with exterior paints can be walked on in half a day or overnight. However, the waiting time before putting garden furniture back on the deck and resuming active use should be at least 24-48 hours, depending on the surface and weather conditions.
